Since part of the agreement between the LGU and the community is the provision of toilet bowls, key to the success of the project is the availability of sanitary toilet bowls. Lack of it (toilet bowl) may slow down or even stop the momentum already present in the barangay. The barangay was lucky enough to be provided 36 out of 70 available ceramic toilet bowls by the office of the sanitary inspector. The sanitary inspector also expressed the problem of the availability of toilet bowls. The office (Sanitary Inspector) can only provide toilet bowls so long as they are given by the central office (Dipolog City) and there are no specific dates on which toilet bowls are available. The office of the sanitary inspector also has to cater to twenty-five (25) other barangays in the municipality. So, constant availability of toilet bowls is not assured for the barangay and even for the municipality.
A solution to this problem, headed by the sanitary inspector, is to provide cement toilet molders for the production of cement toilet bowls. In this way, toilet bowls are readily available for the whole municipality of Tampilisan. The idea was patterned from a neighboring municipality (Sindangan) wherein CLTS was also implemented in their municipality.
The concept of the cement toilet molder was instead of waiting from the central office, the municipality themselves will be the one producing their own toilet bowls. A 1:2 cement to fine sand ratio mixture is enough to create 5 (five) cement toilet bowls and one cement toilet molder can produce up to 2 cement toilet bowls per day. The office of the sanitary inspector in Tampilisan procured 5 cement toilet molders on November 29, 2017.
Before the purchase of the cement toilet molder, a demonstration was done last September 26, 2017 on how to use the said molder. 5 people were in attendance to the said demonstration namely: Mr. Richard Loredo, Tampilisan Sanitary Inspector; Mrs. Merlyn Cowak, Bgry Molos Kagawad; Mr. Julito Manongcas, Brgy. Lawaan Kagawad; Muhammad Matingka, AdZU-SOM Student and; James Rebollos, AdZU-SOM Student.
Training on use of cement toilet molder was then held on February 12, 2018 to select masons in barangay Molos. Barangays New Dapitan, Lumbayao and Malila T were also invited for the training but only barangay Lumbayao and Molos participated in the said activity. Two (2) masons from each barangay were trained and passed the return demonstration using a checklist that was based from the demonstration in Sindangan. Sustainability of the project will be assured knowing that cement toilet bowls can readily be constructed as the need arises.
