During our community exposure, we participated in conducting papsmear in one barangay. It was my 1st time and it was a great experience. Days before the actual activity, Doc Maita gave us flashcards so we would be able to recognize a lesion when we apply the VIA (or in this case, we used Del Monte vinegar). Yes, we used the Del Monte Vinegar as VIA and applied it to the cervix. I'll never look at Del Monte vinegar the same way again. Anyway, the flashcards were a good thing because at the time of the event, it was easier for me to recognize whether there was a lesion or not. On the day of the activity, very few women signed up for papsmear. There were probably about 10 or more of my fellow medical students who were there with me. We each had one try. Majority of the women who went in were VIA negative. Lucky for me, I saw what a cervix with an actual lesion look like. (Not lucky for the girl though) I'm grateful that I've had this great learning experience. Although it was just one try, it was still a really good opportunity to learn.
October 9, 2015 Barangay Molos Senior Citizens celebrated their anniversary. Seniors' from different puroks get together to enjoy each others company, everyone bring foods may it be from root crops, native chicken, the most famous pansit of the barrios, and well pork everywhere. The program started with a prayer followed by the opening anthem lead by the barangay officials. Openin remarks was given by the president of the organization Mr. Senio. The guest speaker of the program is the municipality mayor of Tampilisan. He encourages senior citizen to continue to participate on every activity they are having, he even lead the morning walk together with barangay officials and all senior citizen, and we also participated to the walk of the old way.
We are invited of the barangay officials to witness the old time way of celebration/party. The old time way of singing, dancing, and giving poems were the exciting part of the celebration we are even requested to give our own "pasundayag" they called it. The experienced of dancing and celebrating with the old generation is quite priceless, we enjoy every beat of the old time songs, the smiles, the moves, the rhythm, the harmony of each person that time were in slow motion, every second counts for we are back to old way.
The whole activity was just like a card of senior citizens anywhere you go, everywhere you go, and all of the time you should bring it with you. You will have a discounts of happiness, a remembrance to make, a priority to set. It is a living testimony that should be engraved in the hearts' of the youth not to forsake the old ways, call it classical but it is still magical in the sense of majestic joy that they embrace.
